Happy Dhanteras :-)

url

Hey! 🙂 Today is Dhnateras. The word Dhanteras is derived from the Sanskrit word “Dhantrayodashi” – consisting of two words “Dhan” which is wealth and “teras” or “Trayodashi” means 13th Lunar day of Krishna Paksha as per Hindu Kartik calendar. Dhanteras is the first day of five days of Diwali celebrations.

The word ‘Dhan’ is related to Goddess Lakshmi. On this auspicious day, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped and since she symbolizes wealth, it is supposed to shower wealth to her worshipers.

Dhanteras has a special impact in the business world. On this auspicious occasion, businesses organise pujas in their offices and decorate it. People buy gold ware, silverware and steel utensils as it’s also considered auspicious.

So let’s start celebrating this beautiful festival of lights from today! 🙂

Recipe:- Rice Kheer (Rice Pudding)

OMG! I can’t believe my most most mosttttttttt favourite festival DIWALI is just around the corner… Yippie! 😀 I am soooooo happy and really I am very excited I cannot believe how time goes so fast and here’s another Diwali again. 🙂 Diwali is probably my favourite time of the year and It is very important & biggest festival for me….I just love love loveeeeeee Diwali season 🙂 Diwali also called Deepavali or the “Festival of Lights” is one of the most popular Hindu festival. It is celebrated by Hindus all round the world. Diwali is the festival of light, crackers, sweets and celebration & no celebration or festival is complete without “SWEETS” right, no? 😉 ….And the one dish that is very special for everyone is ‘Rice Kheer’ (Chaval ki Kheer or Rice Pudding).
Rice Kheer is very easy to cook and tasty Indian dessert made up of rice, milk and various kinds of dry fruits. It is one of the most popular Indian desserts.
Today in my post I am going to share with you my simple and easy Rice Kheer Recipe. As Diwali is just few days away, so On this Diwali I am sharing with you a lovey sweet dish and my favourite also 😀 which you can enjoy with your family and friends. I am very happy to share my first post on recipes…really trust me, Its a very tasty, simple to make & lovely dessert. 🙂

Rice kheer is also known as “Rice Pudding”. Rice Kheer is a traditional and very popular sweet dish of India (especially of North India) Made with milk, rice and sugar it is a complete meal in itself. I love kheer, it is one of my favourite sweet dishes. When I was little I was fond of kheer, My mom used to make it quite often. Now here I am going to share my mom’s Kheer Recipe. 🙂

Made by me :-)

Made by me 🙂

Ingredients :-
1 litre milk.
¼ cup rice.
5 to 6 tbsp sugar or as required.
3 green cardamoms/hari elaichi powdered.
15-20 chopped almonds/badam.
12-15 chopped cashews/kaju.
1 tbsp raisins/kishmish.
10-12 Chironji.

Recipe:-

Rinse & soak rice for 30 mins.
• Heat milk in a wide pan and let it come to a boil.
• Now drain the rice and add it to the simmering milk.

• Now keep stirring the milk for few minutes and make sure it does not burn at the bottom.

Cook till it is of desired thickness and add the cardamom powder and stir.
Once it reaches the desired thickness, add in the Sugar and the Dry fruits (almonds, chopped cashews, raisins, chironji) .
When the rice has cooked completely and the kheer has thickened to the desired consistency, switch off the fire.
Now pour the rice kheer in a serving bowl.

The Rice Kheer is ready! you can serve the rice kheer, hot or warm or chilled. If you want to serve it cold, keep it in fridge for 2-3 hours. I personally like cold kheer. 🙂

Note:
If kheer is served chilled, keep it a little sweeter because cold kheer tastes less sweet than hot kheer.

Enjoy 🙂

BOOK REVIEW:- CAN LOVE HAPPEN TWICE? BY RAVINDER SINGH

72096_518721934835852_1868947415_n

CAN LOVE HAPPEN TWICE is a sequel to the ‘I Too Had a Love Story‘. It is the story of Ravinder Singh’s second attempt at love with an Indian girl, he finds in Belgium. I had read ‘I too had a love story’ earlier and I loved the honest and touching way he (Ravinder) had written the book. When I read the last few lines of the book, which says “Because to think of another girl, I feel like a whore, I silently say to the emptiness around me” that time I really thought that’s a true love, But when I heard Ravindra’s book title ‘Can love happen twice?’ and it is a sequel to “I too had a love story”, seriously I was lil bit angry and confused. I wondered how could he do this to Khushi, to himself, who loved her so much and brought her back alive by writting a book in her memory????
I wanted to read it, So finally after reading ITHALS, I ordered Ravindra’s 2nd book “Can Love Happen Twice?” I ordered it on Flipkart & after 3-4 days received it and then I began to read it.

On the evening of 14th feb, valentine’s day, Ravin and his thee best friends are invited for a radio show in Chandigarh, ‘Raat gayi, baat baki’. Ravin was supposed to talk about his bestselling book ‘I too had a love Story’ and life after that. But only his three friends could turned up. With the show going forward, they revealed where Ravin is actually now. This brings the curiosity what situation made those happen in his life. With the curiosity on peak, one of his friends start reading his written diary as collection of happening of his life in Belgium, narrating the story live in one of Chandigarh’s Fm.

blllll
The first few chapters were very boring and sometimes I really wanted to flip the book straight to the end to find out how it turned out, But I didn’t! Honestly speaking, ravin falling in love with Simar didn’t create much impact. The character of Simar is really irritating. I really didn’t like Simar’s character from the start, maybe because I loved khushi’s character more and during the talk about marriage with Simar’s father I think we could guess what was coming next. It made me hate simar even more, while reading about her insecurities which she hadn’t mentioned earlier in their relationship & when they breakup and she says “Im sorry ravs” I really hate it. Inshort I loved “I too had a love story” but I do not think I loved “Can love happen twice?”
But but but… for the main question “CAN LOVE HAPPEN TWICE?” In the book we see Ravin saying to MP that “TRUE LOVE CAN NEVER COME TO A PERSON THE SECOND TIME” there’s your answer…..!

But as for my opinion………..

“Love can happen many times, but TRUE LOVE can happen only once!!!!!! ” 🙂

Well I didn’t hate reading This book, I didn’t love reading it, like I did for “I Too Had A Love Story”. Overall a boring book, This book is a time-pass read. I would say I am little disappointed. Guys just read it if you want to know what happened to Ravin but please do not keep your expectations very high with this book.

few facts about India, Mars and The Mangalyaan!

05lead3

India’s Mars Orbiter Mission has successfully been deployed in the Martian orbit, making India only the 4th country in the world to have a successful mission to Mars in its name. Here are a few facts you must know about India, Mars and The Mangalyaan.

10622892_1555721007984589_5443558944304663792_n

• India is the FIRST ASIAN COUNTRY and the fourth country (after the Soviet Union, United States and Europe) in the world to have a spacecraft in the Martian orbit.

• India is the FIRST country in the world to send a spacecraft to Mars on its very FIRST attempt.

• India’s Mars mission – the Mars Orbiter Mission – or as informally known: Mangalyaan – is built with a cost of Rs. 454 crores (that is around Rs.4 per Indian, Rs. 12 per km). PM Narendra Modi applauding Indian scientists had said,”Hollywood movie Gravity costs more than our space mission”. It is the cheapest Mars mission, ever!

• Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) becomes the fourth space agency to reach Mars after Roscosmos, NASA and ESA.

• The project was approved by the government of India on 3 August 2012 and costs Rs. 450 crores.

• According to NASA, Out of the 51 missions to the red planet by different countries, only 21 went successful till now.

• The distance between Earth and Mars is about 140 million miles (73,391+ trips from Jammu to Kanyakumari with an additional 1001km of travel). Hence, the cost of the Mangalyaan’s journey is about Rs. 6.61 per kilometre or Rs. 4 per Indian. (Less than the fare of an auto-rickshaw).

• The Mars Orbiter Mission was developed and deployed in just 15 months.

• It takes 14 minutes for a signal from Mangalyaan to reach Earth, as compared to 1 second to call from one place on the earth to any other place on it.
ByWtLPuCAAEIZad
• NASA tweeted, “We congratulate @ISRO for its Mars arrival! @MarsOrbiter joins the missions studying the Red Planet.”

• MOM has an on-orbit mission life of 6-10 months.

Wish you all a blessed and happy Dussehra…

271326_thumbnail

Hey! 🙂 Today is Dussehra also known as Vijaya Dashami, Dasara, or Dashain. The tenth day of Navaratri marks the end of fasting and is celebrated as Dussehra. The name Dussehra is derived from Sanskrit Dasha-hara literally means Dashanan ravan (Name of devil & in short Dasha and Hara (defeat)) referring to Lord Rama’s victory over the ten-headed demon king Ravana. This festival is celebrated by burning effigies of Ravana, Kumbarkaran and Megnath. This is an Indian festival that celebrates good forces over evil forces.

The day also marks the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasur. Dasha-Hara is also known as Navratri or Durgotsav and is a celebration of Durga’s victory. This is a time for celebration, a time for victory of good over bad.

So here’s wishing all the readers of my blog, a very Happy Dussehra! 🙂 May Lord Rama always keep showering his blessings upon you, May your life be prosperous and trouble free throughout…God bless you all! 🙂

Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti !!!

Hello Friends 🙂 Hope you are all doing great 🙂 Today is 2nd October, means today is Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, 145th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi . He is considered as a Father of the nation, father of every Indian people who brought the independence for India from British rule in 1947. His full name is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He was born on 2nd October 1869. When we talk about Mahatma Gandhi we only remember “Non Violence”. So here are some of my favourite inspirational and motivational quotes said by Mahatma Gandhi:-

url

1. Be the change that you wish to see in the world.

2. I cannot teach you violence, as I do not myself believe in it. I can only teach you not to bow your heads before any one even at the cost of your life.

3. Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.

Mahatma-Gandhi-Best-Quotes1

4. Strength does not come from winning, when you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.

5. You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is like an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.

6. Men often become what they believe themselves to be. If I believe I cannot do something,it makes me incapable of doing it. When I believe I can,I acquire the ability to do it even if I didn’t have it in the beginning.

Quote-by-Mahatma-Gandhi2

7. Nobody can hurt you without your permission.

8. Forgiveness is choosing to love, It is the first skill of self-giving love.

9. Many people especially ignorant people want to punish you for speaking the truth, for being correct, for being you. Never apologize for being correct or for being years ahead of your time. If you’re right and know it, speak your mind. Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is still the truth.

10. Be the change that you want to see in the World.

🙂 Gandhi Jayanti ki Shubkamnaye (Happy Gandhi Jayanti) 🙂
